ITINERARY

Welcome to Ecuador! You’ll fly to Quito, the capital of Ecuador, founded in the 16th century on the ruins of an Inca city, it stands at an altitude of 2,850 m (9186 ft). This city has the best-preserved, least-altered historic center in Latin America. Your driver will meet you at the arrival to take you to the hotel via private car. The rest of your day is to explore at your leisure. Overnight in Quito.

Buenos días! Today we will embark on a day of cultural immersion and scenic beauty. Starting with breakfast and a trip to the Teleferiqo Cable Car, one of the world’s highest at 3,947 meters (12,900 ft). Enjoy a 20-minute gondola ride, witness changing vegetation going up, and explore the Andean moor ecosystem. Afterward, we will explore Quito’s UNESCO-listed Old Town, discovering the colonial architecture. Visiting iconic landmarks and immersing yourself in Ecuador’s rich history and culture. Overnight in Quito.

Ready to ride? We’ll take a scenic drive from Quito towards the west part of the country. After reaching the highest point at 3200 meters, we switch to bicycles and descend from the village of Nono, at 2900 meters above sea level through a charming dirt road to Tandayapa, situated at 1800 meters. This cloud forest is teeming with bromeliads, palm trees, and orchids. Keep your eyes on the road and sky; you might spot parrots, hummingbirds, toucans, and caciques. We will have a packed lunch and then drive to Mindo, where we can pick either to visit a butterfly garden where you will feel the colorful magic of the different butterflies or to do a cacao tour to learn how Ecuador produces some of the best chocolates in the world, from the bean to the bar.Overnight in Mindo.

En route, we’ll make a fascinating stop at Mitad del Mundo. Here, at the Equatorial Line, where the northern and southern hemispheres meet, you’ll delve into the mysteries of the Coriolis effect and gravitational laws while gaining insights into Ecuador’s history and culture. Get ready for a thrilling day in the Andes at Hacienda El Porvenir! After breakfast, don your ponchos and chaps for a horseback ride through the stunning Cotopaxi region, guided by native experts sharing local legends and history. Keep your eyes up since we may have to spot a Condor with its remarkable 3-meter wingspan. After the ride, it’s time to channel your inner Chagra (Andean cowboy). Learn the art of lassoing a (wooden) cow, just like the skilled Chagras do. In the afternoon we will go for a hike on the trails of the Hacienda, we will get to the conservation program where we can learn about the native trees and their different uses. We will get to the Manto de la Novia waterfall and understand the importance of this ecosystem to then get back to the Hacienda house. Overnight in Cotopaxi.

Join us on an incredible day trip to Cotopaxi National Park. Encounter the world’s largest flying bird, the Andean Condor, and truly wild horses. Discover the region’s unique Andean geology, featuring iconic peaks like Pasochoa, Rumiñahui, Sincholagua, and Cotopaxi itself. Our journey takes us to the Cotopaxi Refuge’s base at 4,800m (15,744 ft) after a short hike, offering a breathtaking perspective of this colossal volcano. Following this, we’ll descend to Limpiopungo Lake for a satisfying box lunch. The adventure continues through ancient Inca fortresses and volcanic plains adorned with stunning rock formations. Don’t forget your camera and stay hydrated for this unforgettable spectacle! In the evening we’ll return to Quito for a good night’s rest.
